Peter Heatley, a Psychotherapy Intern at Wellness Embodied, brings a wealth of life experience and compassion to his practice. He has over 25 years of professional experience in a variety of industries including eldercare, publishing, and technology, and has worked for many years as a manager and mentor in various roles. Peter's journey to counseling is grounded in a deep commitment to mindfulness and holistic healing practices. Peter utilizes a strengths-based approach to therapy informed by attachment theory and narrative therapy, offering clients a supportive space to explore challenges in their daily lives.  Peter seeks to empower individuals on their journey toward healing and self-discovery, and is passionate about working with clients of all types facing issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction recovery, LGBTQ+ identity and relationship struggles.

Peter's academic journey is rooted in a diverse educational background and a commitment to ongoing growth and learning. He graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a major in Philosophy, which helped Peter to cultivate a foundation for understanding human experience and the complexities of the mind. His immersion in Tibetan Buddhism at the Three Jewels Outreach Center in NYC and graduation from the Sarva Yoga Academy in 2012 further solidified his dedication to personal growth and spiritual exploration. Peter is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University, New England, and is expected to graduate in May 2025. Peter is excited to contribute his unique perspective and expertise to the individualized services offered at Wellness Embodied, under the guidance of experienced professionals dedicated to holistic healing and mindfulness-based therapy.
