WHO WE ARE

MICHELLE WADE

LCSW, Psychotherapist

pronouns: she/her

Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep desire to support individuals in their journey towards authentic self-expression. As someone who proudly stutters, Michelle has dedicated her career to advocating for individuality, justice, and acceptance. With a trauma-informed perspective, she is committed to helping adults heal and overcome obstacles that hinder their personal growth.

Michelle's therapeutic approach is rooted in Psychodynamic principles, helping clients recognize underlying conflicts and develop strategies to minimize their impact on daily life. In her sessions, she encourages curiosity and play, employing a somatic framework to facilitate holistic wellness.

Michelle holds a Master's degree in Social Work from Adelphi University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Mercy College. With over a decade of experience, she has worked extensively with clients diagnosed with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and Substance Use Disorders in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. She has a special affinity for individuals navigating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), physical disability, racial inequality, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, substance use dependence, workplace dissonance, and the LGBTQIA++ communities.

Drawing from an eclectic range of therapies, Michelle incorporates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Brief-Action Solution support, Motivational Interviewing, and longer-term treatments. She values ongoing learning and is currently undergoing training in Somatic Experiencing (SE).

Above all, Michelle is dedicated to providing a present, empathetic, and relative safe space for her clients to embark on their healing journey.
